Just so that you have some idea of how relevant the BVRLA is, they represent some 800 Members who between them run more than two million vehicles and who buy 45% of all new vehicles sold in the UK. In doing so, they spend more than £12 billion each year on vehicles and around a further £2 billion on support services.

Involvement in the industry does not qualify a company automatically for Membership of the BVRLA. The criteria for Membership are strictly defined and applicants are scrutinised to ensure they meet the standards laid down in the Association's Code of Conduct. This process is ongoing once a company has joined the BVRLA to ensure that companies continue to comply with the code.

Government now seeks their viewpoint on impending legislation and regulation and listens to what they have to say. The BVRLA has never been an organisation to suffer quietly under some misregulation. It has positive and robust views on all matters that surround not only the immediate industry but motoring generally, including road safety and, of course, the cause of greener motoring.
